These straw baskets are made in a small village just outside Marrakech. The sequins are stitched on by hand by local women who are working together to build a co-operative. By supporting the establishment of this co-operative, we are helping the women to fund their children's education and improve their own living standards at the same time. Please note that the sequins are sewn on not glued as is often the case with baskets like this. The extra work is labour intensive which is why the price is slightly higher than the embroidered baskets but it means that the sequins will stay on securely.
